Huron Alumni

Profile: Ann Kennedy Kedwell

Beginning with a seed and watching it grow.

Ann Kennedy Kedwell has always given to Huron in whatever way she could. Whether through her work as an Alumni Board member (including a term as President) or as a Huron University College Corporation member, Ann believes in giving back. In that spirit, creating The Ann Kennedy Kedwell Entrance Bursary in 2006 seemed like an extension of her years of service.

"I did it in the spirit of that old motto 'Good food; Good fun; Good friendship.' I want others to have a chance to live what I experienced at Huron too," she says.

Ann knows her time at Huron shaped her into the person she is today. She gained so much from her three years at Huron, she says, including an excellent education, lifelong friendships, and life experiences. Through her entrance bursary, she wishes others to share the same opportunities she enjoyed.

"A bursary gives a student a chance to develop their own life exposures which will be totally different from mine. But if my gift to Huron can do that, then that's great," she says. "Given that I worked in a bank for so long, it's a great return on your investment!"

Establishing an entrance bursary, Ann says, is a good way to ensure students get off on the right foot and it's very easy to do.

"It's a start. It's a seed. An entrance is a seed," she says. "I like the ground level and letting (the seed) grow where it's going to grow."
