"Because Huron is smaller, there are sometimes fewer resources, but you don't want to sacrifice its smallness."
As Huron students, both Brian McGorman and his mother Joanne (nee Arnsby) McGorman enjoyed the small, tight-knit community environment which Huron offers. Both Brian and Joanne had great experiences at Huron and wanted to create an endowment to give something back to the institution.
Says Brian: "Because Huron is smaller, there are sometimes fewer resources, but you don't want to sacrifice its smallness." The McGorman Family Faculty Development Fund which he and his mother created "helps Huron compete with larger institutions in providing research opportunities for its faculty."
Brian also believes the personalized attention students receive from Huron professors makes it a more desirable place to be. "You're not lost in a sea of a thousand students in one classroom, and there's a real family-type atmosphere at Huron," he says.
Brian also serves Huron as a Trustee of the Foundation, and is a former member of Huron's Golf Tournament committee.
